hold, 认为，坚信keep in mind or convey as a conviction or view

self-evident，不言自明。类似的还有self-proven，以及下文的self-executing

注意感受一下奥巴马讲话中动词用法的丰富性。

第二句的处理方法，第一种是先把动词做出来，only状语后置：

一个自由市场的繁荣/要繁荣，只有当……only与when 共同处理

第二种方法：

一个自由市场只有当……的时候，才能繁荣

两种方法的来源在于，only其实强调的是when，所以在处理里需要做适当转换

以前多数时候，我们学习生词，是一对一的映射，这在同传时有好处，但是在理解时会陷入困境，因为一个词的含义本身可以看成一种空间的分布，是由很多点构成，而非一个孤立的词语。
